Signs of Change

©Jane Chesebrough

After that thunder storm a week or two ago, there were a lot of fallen leaves but this is the first coloured leaf that I have seen. It is not all happening at once but I am starting to notice the shifts in the temperature, the wind, and choose to see it as a photo op and a time to savour the greenness of the trees, the grass and the bushes, knowing it won’t be long before more changes take place.

  2. It is cooling down here during the night and early morning and last week I saw that some of the oaks high up on the mountains have begun to turn red. Hello Autumn!

  3. Nice photo Jane, things are changing here also. The Black Tupelo trees have dropped most of their leaves already! All the other varieties are still green!

    • Nice to hear from all of you about the changes that you are seeing, weather it is foliage or birds. i am wearing long pants today and saw people yesterday with long pants and coats-it was shocking! But i expect to be back in shorts in about 2 days as it is warming up again. . .

  4. I just saw my first tree starting to change to red instead of all the previous brown leaved trees that just couldn’t survive the heat. My immediate thought was, migrations and new birds will be coming soon! 🙂 But I am also savoring the final dog days of summer. They come and go much too fast anymore…

    • Agree. and thank you for dropping in. I always thought summer was my fav and it really is, except I can’t handle the heat like I used to, but realize when I took sick leave in May that I was so happy because the birds were arriving, the days were longer and the trees had budded and blossoms were out.I was thinking it could be my favourite month but I will get back out there and enjoy the present beautiful day..
