Raven on Icefields Parkway
Just thought that I would post this photo of a raven that I took last spring at a stop on the Icefields Parkway in Jasper National Park. Been inspired by some photos on the blogs . Thoughts are with the election tomorrow in the US. all the best.
This is a wonderful image! Perfect depth and I love the bits of snow falling. I too drove the parkway last spring and was surprised by the brazen ravens at our stops. Ravens are common (and fascinating) in my town, but one never gets as close to them as you do with these ‘tourist’ ravens. They are obviously quite dependent on handouts.

I am surprised these tourist ravens don’t charge a modelling fee. There was a Richardson’s ground squirrel at Rogers Pass that would sit right beside people and pose with them for a photo-hilarious. Thanks for the compliment on the photo..

It’s a great shot. The raven stands out so strongly from the blurred background, while the rain still gives the image some depth. I think making it into a black and white picture is a right choice. Perfect!

Thank you Otto for your kind words..

That’s a great photo, and I really liked the B&W edit. You know what? I think you may have caught the crow blinking. I’ve taken a number of photos just as a bird blinks, and their eyelid makes the eye look white.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Deb.I have noticed that with geese too .I am not sure but think their eyelids are semi-transparent,thus the reflection. I am happy with this photo and plan to enter it in this month’s competition in the camera club.

It’s an excellent choice for the competition. Good luck!
I keep saying to myself that I should try getting involved in such competitions locally, but I still haven’t. Maybe in 2013.

Seeing this I remember the Raven from the TV series Game of Thrones. Great picture 🙂
